# Bio Peptide Co from the body’s own messages

![An adult parent reaches up as their child jumps to meet a high-five.](/co-messages-84b5455dae08/high-five.webp)

An ordinary family moment, with no treatment or peptide use implied.

Our bodies send messages. Medicines sometimes borrow the idea. We put them side by side to see what changes. That’s the “Co” here: coexistence, with room for each relative to have its own story.

## A natural signal and an analogue

An endogenous peptide is one our body makes. An analogue is a changed relative. Being related helps explain how a medicine works. It doesn’t prove that it works well, or safely, for a particular person.

Read each pair across, then the caution underneath. The family photo is just everyday life. It says nothing about treatment or peptide use for a child.

## GLP-1 beside semaglutide

### Origin · GLP-1

GLP-1 helps with insulin release and appetite. Our body breaks it down quickly.

### Adaptation · Semaglutide

Semaglutide uses the same receiving point but lasts longer. Its [label covers uses and cautions](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=ee06186f-2aa3-4990-a760-757579d8f77b).

**What the relationship cannot establish.** Longer isn’t automatically better. Nausea and other warnings matter. [Read the GLP-1 chapter](/glp-1).

## GHRH beside two different relatives

### Origin · GHRH

Growth hormone-releasing hormone, or GHRH, tells a gland to release growth hormone.

### Adaptation · Sermorelin and tesamorelin

Sermorelin and tesamorelin borrow that message. Their [histories differ](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39537825/).

**What the relationship cannot establish.** Tesamorelin’s approval doesn’t cover sermorelin or prove anti-ageing benefits. [Compare the two](/ghrh).

## Alpha-MSH beside PT-141

### Origin · Alpha-MSH

Alpha-MSH is a natural peptide in a family of signals called melanocortins.

### Adaptation · Bremelanotide

PT-141, also called bremelanotide, is a synthetic relative with a [specific approved use](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfm?setid=8c9607a2-5b57-4a59-b159-cf196deebdd9).

**What the relationship cannot establish.** Blood-pressure and heart-disease restrictions still apply. [Read the sexual-desire account](/signal-families#alpha-msh).

## The thymus beside thymosin alpha-1

### Origin · A thymic peptide

Thymosin alpha-1 was [first isolated from thymus tissue](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/265536/).

### Adaptation · Thymalfasin

Its synthetic version, thymalfasin, has no FDA-approved U.S. product.

**What the relationship cannot establish.** Origin isn’t proof of immune protection. FDA raises quality and immune-reaction concerns. [Read the thymus account](/signal-families#thymus).

## A gastric protein beside BPC-157

### Origin · A stomach-protein sequence

The origin story points to part of a protein in stomach fluid.

### Adaptation · A synthetic fragment

BPC-157 is a synthetic fragment. [Human research is very limited](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40789979/).

**What the relationship cannot establish.** It isn’t FDA-approved. Animal results don’t establish human safety. [Read about the fragment](/fragments-and-skin#bpc157).

## Kisspeptin beside kisspeptin research

### Origin · An upstream signal

Kisspeptin helps set reproductive-hormone signals in motion.

### Adaptation · Research forms

Researchers study several forms. These remain [investigational](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38265397/).

**What the relationship cannot establish.** Long-term safety is unknown. A hormone change isn’t proof of a fertility treatment. [Follow the signal](/signal-families#kisspeptin).

## GHK beside its copper-bound form

### Origin · GHK

GHK is a small peptide in the body. Bound to copper, it’s GHK-Cu.

### Adaptation · Topical and research contexts

It appears in skincare. [Cell studies](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3169264/) help explain the interest.

**What the relationship cannot establish.** Skin-cream findings don’t establish injection safety; FDA flags immune-reaction concerns. [Keep the forms apart](/fragments-and-skin#ghkcu).
